Jennifer Hudson has reportedly announced her engagement to I Love New York 2 star David “Punk” Otunga. The Oscar winner who got her big breaks on American Idol announced the she couldn’t be happier.

Add to her list of accomplishments the Best Supporting Oscar in 2007 for Dreamgirls and recently starred in the Sex and the City movie. Her engagement is perhaps the icing on her colorful and successful career.

She is scheduled to release another album in September 30 and is slated to once again appear in the big screen in the movie, “The Secret Life of Bees” alongside Dakota Fanning.

We have seen the likes of Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona) and Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey) and Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots) lend their voices to bring the said characters to life. The last time out, we saw Shrek and Fiona have kids but now guess who is being rumored to join the fray as the villain? Tom Cruise!

This news leak came out following Cruise’ last role of lending his voice as an ogre-like module in “Tropic Thunder”. The fourth installment is scheduled to come out in 2010.

With a lot of time to spare, this rumor may yet be realized and thanks to his comic antics, Tom Cruise may be a perfect fit to the role which has yet to be released.

Angelina Jolie has always been a great addition as far as movies and ads are concerned but apparently her latest ad that takes its theme from her last movie “Wanted” did not sit well with the Brits as they had the posters which were pushing for guns and crime taken out.

While the poster had obviously wanted to pick off from what her action-packed film was preaching, it was exposed to the wrong crowd. While Jolie is admittedly a star wherever she goes, there are instances where not all people may kneel down and praise her for her beauty and glamour. One such territory is Great Britain.

“We acknowledged most viewers would understand the posters reflected the content of an action film,” the ASA said in a statement. “However, we considered that because the ads featured a glamorous actress, action poses, several images of, or related to guns and aspirational text, they could be seen to glamorize the use of guns and violence.”

If you had followed Anne Hathaway during the Princess Diaries sequels, then she is practically adaptable to those movies right now. She is free and single. But it was a hard decision to make though. She had been involved with Italian Raffaello Follieri for four years now but due to his former fiancée’s involvement in various legal matters and possibly life imprisonment, the Princess Diaries star has decided to cut their ties and move on.

It wasn’t easy though. Hathaway was obsessed with the Italian beau and if not for impending legal issues which went as far as involving her as well, perhaps the move was heartbreaking but for the better of the lovely Hathaway.

“You were the love of my life,” Hathaway told Follieri, according to Vanity Fair. “I’ll always love you. You know that, baby.”

After a failed marriage to heartthrob Brad Pitt, diva Jennifer Aniston has suffered another heartbreaking relationship after her announced breakup with John Mayer. Citing chemistry as a reason, Mayer admitted that while Aniston was one of the lovely and sophisticated women she has ever been with, but alas, he does not see anything coming out of their short relationship.

For Aniston, a woman whom any man would dream of having for a mate, the search for Mr. Right continues. Who would ever thought that this lovely star from Friends would be without a partner. Well that is just for now. But give her a couple of months and you will hear her dating someone once again. And this is regardless if that guy is from the showbiz world or not. She is too pretty and attractive to pass up!

John Mayer says ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston is the one of the “most lovely people” he has ever met. The ‘Gravity’ singer confirmed he had ended his relationship with the former ‘Friends’ actress, but does not have any hard feelings about the way things finished.

Beverly Hills 90210, that hit TV series that brought names like Tori Spelling, Shannon Doherty and Jason Priestley is now being revived but with new stars. Everyone knows the popular long-time running television series and with this new revival that is offering new faces and new names, you have to wonder if they can achieve the same success that the original stars had made.

This time around, the show is made up of virtually unknown but potential new teen idols. The list includes Jessica Stroup, Shenae Grimes, Jennie Garth and Kellan Lutz among others. Basing it on the teasers, it seems that the new 90210 may have lots of potential. For the record, it has been said that original star Shannon Doherty will be making an appearance for 1 episode of the TV show. On whether that would be the first and last is anybody’s guess.

But just like most shows, sequels have a tougher task to accomplish as far as upholding the tradition of success for hot primetime TV shows.

Each time I hear of someone popular dying in the showbiz industry it reminds me of my age. While I am not a great fan of the Golden Girls, a hit comedy series back in the ‘80s, I do remember seeing them through plugs and teasers. And admittedly, Estelle Getty (Sophia Petrillo) is one of the girls I always remember due to her wisecracks and serious yet hilarious character. And mind you, I remember her only from teasers and not by watching.

The last time I remember her coming out of the big screen was opposite Sylvester Stallone (Stop, or My Mom Will Shoot!). But what puzzles me is the age factor. During those times, it seems she was tailor-made for the roles since the image she projected was like no other.

Getty died Tuesday at the age of 84 from advanced dementia. While many today do not remember this star, if they caught a glimpse of what Getty had accomplished, then perhaps they would wish they had seen her classic movies and shows that were more frugal than flashy.

For folks who have forgotten, Olivia Newton-John gained stardom in the late 70’s when she starred opposite John Travolta for the hit movie “Grease”. Since then she has been away from the limelight but 30 years later she crops up again, announcing her second marriage.

Today, Newton-John is 59 and has gotten married again to John Easterling. Easterling is the founder and CEO of Amazon Herb Co., which sells botanical supplements from the rainforest. Newton-John was formerly married to Matt Lattanzi whom she married in 1984 and divorced in 1995.

It was really a quiet ceremony for the popular actress and singer who made hit singles such as “I Honestly Love You” and “Physical”. They were wed only last June 21 on Jupiter Island in Florida.

“Family and friends were told about the nuptials at a barbecue on July 4, 2008, in a private celebration at the singer’s home in Malibu, California,” the statement said.

The announcement said it was the second marriage for both.

If there is one thing many celebrities should avoid these days, it is making remarks pointed at the direction of groups and organizations that will get you into trouble. We all know the controversial remarks that Sharon Stone had made regarding the China earthquake and now we have another one in the person of Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl.

No thanks to the remarks she shared at the Emmy’s regarding her performance last season, she is now teetering on the possibility of being cut of the prime ABC show. Apparently, Heigl showed obvious disappointment towards what exposure she got last season and divulging that has gotten the ire of creator Shonda Rhimes who is seriously considering cutting of her character, Dr. Isobel Stevens from the show.

Lest you forget, Heigl took herself out of the running for this year’s Emmy race because she felt the writers failed to give her enough good material to work with last season.

“It’s not good there,” a source tells me of the Grey’s Anatomy set. “Shonda is pissed. They’re thinking of killing her off. They want Izzie dead.”

While a dead Izzie may never happen, it would be an ironic twist, because industry insiders have long speculated that Heigl wants to ditch the show.

For someone who considers herself a role model, being seen topless in Vanity is certainly set to raise some eyebrows and question her personality and claims as a role model for the ages. Miley Cyrus, the star of Hannah Montana, participated for the sake of art but now she may have given it further thought.

So instead of adding towards the area of art, it seems she is know fighting a personal battle to try and reclaim the trust and view of people who looked up to her as a good role model. At 15, she has certainly made the news and gained media attention in the worst way, making her a sitting duck and surely tarnishing her clean image to date.

As it stands, she is now busy trying to make amends and apologizing for everything. But the thing is, if you did not really have any offensive nature in mind, then why should you apologize at all? Contradicting don’t you think?
